Millie
Millie has been part of the team at the Hollandsche Manege for almost three years. Her love for horses began when she moved to Australia at the age of seven. Wanting to make new friends, she decided to take up a sport. The choice came down to dancing or horse riding. Luckily for us, she chose horses and has never looked back since.
One of the things Millie loves most about working with horses is that no two days are ever the same. Every horse, rider and lesson brings something new, which keeps the job exciting and rewarding.
At heart, Millie is an event rider. Having competed in eventing herself, the discipline will always have a special place in her heart. However, she enjoys all areas of equestrian sport and appreciates the different skills each discipline develops.
As an instructor, Millie particularly enjoys guiding riders through their entire journey. From their very first lessons to becoming confident and capable riders, she loves watching people develop their skills and achieve goals they once thought were out of reach.
According to Millie, one of the most important things a rider can learn is confidence. Believing in yourself and trusting your abilities creates a strong foundation for both enjoyment and success in the saddle.
Her favourite horse at the stable is Hennessy, who she describes simply as adorable. One of her funniest memories involves Fine Manners, who occasionally decides that watching lessons is more interesting than staying where he is supposed to be and makes a surprise appearance in the arena.
Millie describes her teaching style as fun, calm and encouraging. She believes in creating a positive learning environment while giving riders the extra push they need when the moment is right.
Outside of horses, Millie enjoys spending time with a good book and is rarely far away from her next read.
What does she hope riders take away from her lessons? A deeper understanding of horses, greater confidence in their riding and, above all, plenty of fun along the way.
Her personal motto?
